NDS will also be giving back this season. The team has pledged ten percent of its race winnings to the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care, which was started by the popular former Boston Bruins hockey player and current Boston Bruins Vice President.
The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care was launched in 1995 by the Neely family after the passing of their parents from cancer. This experience created the inspiration to help others living with cancer. With the dream of honoring their beloved parents and the hope of helping others, The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care was created to help cancer patients and their families during treatments. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care is a support driven non-profit organ ization who, through initiatives and programs sustained by donations, provide comfort, support and hope to cancer patients and their families. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over $18 million net from donations of all sizes, impacted thousands of families and continue to dedicate itself to designing, funding, and completing projects with immediate and tangible results.
Park said, “We’re fortunate to be able to race with NASCAR, and there are important causes we can help by being in our position and doing what we do. The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care has been doing fantastic work helping both patients and their families dealing with cancer and what it takes to treat it, and we’re going to do a small part to help them continue that work with our on-track results.”
The Foundation has already benefited with the quick start Park has enjoyed early in the 2009 season. He kicked off the year with a seventh-place finish in the East Series opener at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina, and then made a rare West Series appearance just five days later, placing third at Phoenix International Raceway.
