by Mike Snow - Orleans Racing
Fontana, Ca – (February 25 2005) -- Officials from the South Padre Island, Texas Convention and Visitors Bureau and Orleans Racing announced today a partnership that puts South Padre Island colors on the #62 Orleans Dodge for both Texas Craftsman Truck Series events.
South Padre Island is a year-round destination vacation spot for many, many people looking for relief from the day-to-day grind. With its miles of pristine beaches and visitor friendly accommodations South Padre Island has become “the place to go” for people in the know.
South Padre Island plans to leverage both Steve Park and Brendan Gaughan, both NASCAR Craftsman Series Most Popular drivers, for their program activation.
"The partnership with Orleans Racing completes a tie between a great family sporting experience and a great family vacation destination," said Dan Quandt, executive director of the South Padre Island, Texas Convention and Visitors Bureau. "The spring and summer racing seasons, especially with a team like Steve Park and Brendan Gaughan, will bring a great deal of excitement to fans across the nation. We know many of these fans will also be interested in the wide variety of family-friendly alternatives available along the best beaches in Texas. We are especially looking forward to highlighting South Padre Island at the Texas Motor Speedway June 10th and November 4th"
“A deal like South Padre is something that’s exciting; it fits the image of Orleans Racing Team, which is fun!” said the pilot of the #62 Orleans Racing Dodge, Steve Park. “I’ve not had a chance to go to South Padre Island yet, but I’ve had many friends who have and had a great time there. I definitely plan to take South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau up on their offers of hospitality for the Orleans Racing team.”
“It shows the Orleans Racing Team’s new commitment to getting exciting new sponsors on Steve Park’s Dodge,” said Brendan Gaughan, driver of the #77 Jasper Engines Dodge. “It shows that we’re back in the Craftsman Truck Series with a serious commitment and are certainly able to showcase not only our capabilities but to bring strong exposure to a great partner such as South Padre Island.”
Gaughan knows that his family’s entertainment based business will be a positive for the program.
“With the Orleans Hotel we understand the entertainment industry and the hospitality industry. It’s a good fit,” says Gaughan of the partnership. “South Padre Island doesn’t compete against The Orleans, but it is a similar industry so we know how to facilitate a sponsor like South Padre Island.
“We can do a good job representing them off the track --- and we know we’ll do an outstanding job at on the track at Texas Motor Speedway when we run South Padre Island’s colors on the #62 Dodge.”
The distinctive South Padre Island livery will be on the #62 Orleans Racing Dodge for both the June 10th and November 4th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Texas events. There are also plans that will leverage both drivers in the South Padre Island area. Details will be forthcoming on those programs as they become available.
About South Padre Island
South Padre Island is located two and a half miles off the very southern mainland of Texas. Bordered by the Laguna Madre bay on the west and the Gulf of Mexico on the east, South Padre Island's sub-tropical climate makes it a very popular, year-round warm weather destination.
