Steve Park Pre-Race Report - Daytona
Steve Park came off the 2004 NCTS season on a roll, and has been ready to get racing again since the season finale’ at Homestead. Perhaps Park’s one of the few that actually though that the “off-season” was about five weeks too long.
Park will roll the familiar colors of the #62 Orleans Dodge here at Daytona, the very same ones that were displayed on his Orleans Dodge Ram in 2004, where he finished 9th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point standings.
Park On Daytona:
Are you a fan of impounding the trucks after qualifying?
I think it’s great. Last year we did a lot of impound after qualifying in the Craftsman Truck Series. It saves a lot of work for the guys from the standpoint of not having to get the truck all turned around for qualifying then back around again for the race. Practicing what you’re going to race is vital --- especially at Daytona.
Good to be back at the track?
It’s great to get back to racing. I think usually the fans look forward to a good long winter, but after the way we ended last year I was ready to keep going. I actually feel like it’s been a long winter because I’m ready to go racing.
Do you expect better racing luck in 2005?
You make your own luck and we tried hard not to put ourselves in that position. At the end of last year we had or luck turned around and we hope that rend holds true this year. We don’t want to get involved in anyone else’s back luck – and if we can do that it’ll help our luck out.
