Steve Park Post Race Report - Memphis

No race team ever likes to settle for a 12th place finish but considering the numerous issues Steve Park and the Orleans Racing team endured they were thrilled with their top-15 performance at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Grueling hot temperatures made for brutal working conditions during the day and a 32nd place qualifying effort put Park deep in the field from the get go.

When the race started, an extremely loose condition kept Park up on the wheel and the crew busy making adjustments from the moment the green flag dropped.

But their troubles didn’t end there.

Electrical gremlins under the hood eventually burned out the alternator and threatened to end the night early for Park and Company.

Luckily, a record number of cautions gave the crew ample opportunity to work on the Orleans Racing Dodge and under the guidance of crew chief Charlie Wilson, they were able to replace the battery without losing a lap to the leaders.

Just past the halfway point of the 200-lap race, the No. 62 Orleans Racing Dodge roared to life and Park was finally able to move forward.

A late race caution set up a green/white/checker finish and the two additional laps translated into two more positions for Park and his sixth top 15 finish of the season.
