Steve Park Post Race Report - Milwaukee

One week after he was rudely knocked from contention at Michigan International Speedway, Steve Park bounced back with a vengeance and a strong seventh place performance at the historic Milwaukee Mile.

Park had to work hard for his third top-10 finish of the season after a disappointing qualifying effort put him 29th on the grid but the Orleans Racing team never gave up and they were rewarded for their efforts.

Early on in the 200-lap race, Park experience some close encounters with his fellow competitors as he fought his way through traffic, but once he found his way into the top 10 it was nothing but forward progress from then on out.

Park made his final pass for position with just seven laps to go when he overpowered Rick Crawford on the backstretch and took over seventh in the running order.

“I was passing trucks all night long,” Park said after he parked his Orleans Racing Dodge. “It was a good night for the Orleans Racing Team.”

With furrowed brow Park then added, “We’re all just baffled how that many cars finish a lap down --- But we ran as hard as we could and finally got to finish one of these things with our Orleans Dodge in good shape.”

The run marked Park's second consecutive top 10 finish at the one-mile flat track and his best finish since mid-May when he came home fifth at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Park’s seventh place finish stops a slid in the Craftsman Truck Series standings the team has experienced the past several weeks. The No. 62 Orleans Racing Team picked up a spot in the standings, to 16th, after the Milwaukee 200 in the unofficial standings, and is just 18 markers from taking the 15th spot into possession.
